KBC Announces Plans to Build

SOMERSET, Ky. - Kentucky Blood Center announced plans today to build a new Somerset Donor Center.

KBC President and CEO Bill Reed made the announcement at a Somerset Pulaski County Chamber Luncheon.

KBC has purchased a two-acre lot in Stonebrook Development, a new business development located on Highway 27 in Somerset.

“We plan to build a new 7,500 square foot facility that will replace our leased space here in Somerset,” Reed said. “Our new facility will also have space allocated to back-up our operations from Lexington should the need arise. We anticipate that this new location’s phenomenal visibility will increase the amount of blood we collect in the area which may create additional jobs. We currently employ 20+ staff members here in Somerset.”

He added, “We hope that the construction of the facility can begin late this year after the start of a successful fundraising campaign. Our purchase of this land would not have been possible without the support of U.S. Congressman Hal Rogers and State Representative Tommy Turner.”
