There are so many stories about how people got started donating blood.
It was the patriotic thing to do during World War II. It was a way to get out of class during high school. A friend asked. A loved one needed blood. A factory hosted a blood drive during work hours. A bloodmobile was in the grocery parking lot. Because Mom said so.
And there are so many stories about why people receive blood – farming accidents, chronic blood disorders, premature births, organ transplants and cancer therapies.
Kentucky Blood Center hears all these stories and more. The ones here are just a few.
